A late fightback by the Kiwis was not enough to stop the Kangaroos winning the ANZAC league test 12-8 in Melbourne The Kangaroos have held off a late fight back by the Kiwis to win the ANZAC league test 12-8 in Melbourne. In driving rain, two tries to Brett Morris helped Australia to a 12-nil advantage early in the second half. The Kiwis finished strongly with two tries in the final 12 minutes but ultimately left the charge too late. Coach Stephen Kearney is proud to see the fight shown. Kearney says they hung in defensively to give themselves a chance at the end. Kangaroos' halfback Cooper Cronk believes the win showed true determination. Cronk says the score shows how tough it was. Australian hooker Cameron Smith could be sidelined for a month after hyperextending his elbow, but is aiming to be fit to play for Queensland in May 29th's opening State of Origin match. |
