Justin Morgan admits that, almost a decade on from when they last played together, his former Wales team-mate Keiron Cunningham remains a major force in Super League.

Morgan, whose Hull KR side face Cunningham-led St Helens in the final match of the Magic Weekend at Murrayfield tomorrow, won 10 caps with Wales and played alongside the veteran hooker in the 2000 World Cup.

The Rovers coach, who is only 14 months younger than the 33-year-old Cunningham, cannot speak highly enough of the Saints legend and admits he poses one of the biggest threats to his side's 100% Magic record.

"It's good to see Keiron playing well, although I don't know if it's good for us," said Morgan. "He seems to have got that youthful exuberance.

"I was lucky to play with some outstanding players - the likes of Laurie Daley, Jason Smith and Gary Freeman - and I would put Keiron up in that category. He's one of the best footballers I ever played with in my entire life.

"For him to be still competing at that level in a team in the top half of the competition is a credit to him.

"The hooking position is one role that has changed more than any other over the years and to be able to adapt to the new requirements has been amazing.

"He's playing great at the moment. He's got his bulldozing runs back and those deft touches which bring big (Tony) Puletua onto the ball. It's a very formidable middle of the pitch which you have to try to control."

Rovers are one of only two clubs with 100% records going into the fourth Magic Weekend, having triumphed twice over Hull in Cardiff and against Warrington in Edinburgh a year ago.

The other undefeated team, champions Leeds, bring down the curtain on day one in a west Yorkshire derby with Wakefield tonight.

The Wildcats are going for a double, having beaten the Rhinos 28-18 at Belle Vue in February, and Kear admits there is no finer achievement in the game.

"From being a fan, to being a player to being a coach, Leeds was always the game I highlighted on the fixture list and it hasn't changed," he said.

"When we drew Leeds, people said it was back luck but I didn't think so. I thought 'that's great, we've got three chances of beating them' and we've already taken one."

In tomorrow's other fixtures, Castleford open proceedings against Catalans Dragons and there is a mouth-watering top-four clash between Wigan and Huddersfield.
